A tentative agreement between the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Southwest Airlines has been approved by the union’s appearance technicians. 83.5% of the Appearance Technicians voted to approve the new contract which will run through February 2017.
AMFA represents the nearly 260 appearance technicians who are responsible for maintaining the appearance of the fleet at Southwest Airlines. “We are pleased that the Southwest Appearance Technicians voted to ratify this agreement,” said Louie Key, the national director of AMFA. “Two of our core principles at AMFA are transparency and democracy. The appearance techs and the negotiating team from Southwest worked hard to develop the agreement. Because of the transparent nature of AMFA, our appearance tech members were clear on every element of the agreement and voted overwhelmingly to ratify the tentative agreement.”
The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association was established in 1962 as a craft focused union that represents mechanics and appearance technicians. AMFA represents the mechanic and related employees at Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
