The Negotiating Committee is providing this update to the AMFA Membership at Southwest Airlines. This is the only official authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee. The above AMFA and Southwest Airlines Representatives participated in open, formal negotiations, seeking contract changes in Section VI negotiations.

On Wednesday February 1st your Negotiating Committee received counter proposals to Articles 2, 4, 5, 15, the LOA pertaining to the resetting of the Appearance Technicians attendance, and a new LOA, outlining the process of attrition and evolving the routine/planned RON Appearance Technicians work to a vendor. Your Negotiating Committee countered the new LOA along with Articles, 2, 4, and 5.

On Thursday February 2nd your Negotiating Committee and the Companies spent much of their time reviewing and questioning each other on the intent of each of the counter proposals. The Company added the requested language concerning written assurance of no involuntary displacements, to the new LOA. This too was countered by the Negotiating Committee. The Negotiation Committee is awaiting requested information, prior to presenting the Company a counter proposal to Article 15.

Your Negotiating Committee is owed responses on several of the Articles in question and the new LOA. The Negotiating Committee expects to receive these during our next negotiating session.

We will resume negotiations at 9:00am Tuesday February 7th in Dallas. We will also secure additional dates as required while we are in Dallas.

The Negotiation Committee would like to thank Kenneth Dawson from Houston; Jeff Portugal; Darlene D. Warren; Vertis Hawkins; Chris Bucher; Maria Cordero all from Dallas; Dave Widerski from Phoenix; Beverly Davis from Chicago, our observers who participated in this session. Their input in caucus was very helpful and welcomed. We know that they will communicate with other members from their locals on how the Union is working to protect their jobs and contract language.
