Mesaba Negotiation Update- October 12-14, 2004

Negotiations reconvened this week with the planned session scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday, October 12-14. After initial discussions between the AMFA Negotiating Committee and the Federal Mediator it became apparent that the Company was not prepared to proceed in any direct discussions with AMFA. After several additional meetings with the Mediator on October 12, the following course of action was decided for this week:

1. The Mesaba negotiating team, along with additional management personnel, will compile the information to justify their claim that all remaining open issues have an economic consequence.

2. The AMFA Negotiating Committee was released to return home for the remainder of this week.

3. When Mesaba completes their project a meeting will be scheduled so that information can be presented to AMFA.

4. The next negotiating session has been tentatively scheduled for the week of November 9. It was anticipated that Mesaba should be finished compiling their information by that time. If not, that session will be cancelled.

We were extremely disappointed that Mesaba has made unsubstantiated claims that have resulted in a delay in negotiations. AMFA is hopeful that once this issue has been resolved, meaningful negotiations will resume.

We look forward to your attendance at the next negotiating session.
