This week’s negotiations were held in CVG. We have two t/a’d articles to report. Article 1 was t/a’d. Article 5 was t/a’d with the Company’s “part-time” proposal being moved to economics. As stated in previous updates, AMFA is adamantly opposed to part-time employees. It was agreed that Furlough recall rights will be raised from the current 3 years to 5 years. Definitions were clarified to reflect classification seniority in accordance with the seniority side letter. Article 13 was discussed with little to no significant progress. AMFA wants to ensure that an employee’s shift or days off are included in furlough procedures. The Company has concerns that should an employee lose his shift or days off he might elect a lay-off, when the intention was to move a position to another shift. Additionally, AMFA wants current work areas listed in the new contract, and all future changes to be agreed to by both parties. Article 9 was discussed, however, many open items remain, and little progress is being made. Movement is difficult because there are pending grievances regarding this article. AMFA wishes to increase the rest period from 8 to 10 hours. When on field trips, AMFA wants double time to be paid for all hours worked before and after an AMT’s regularly scheduled shift. Issues remain regarding Field Trip selection as well. AMFA’s proposal would preclude employees from being selected for field trip duty if they don’t wish to go. No AMT would be required to work more than 2 days of field trip duty per work week. There is also a proposal for the use of two pilots on all field trip charters. There is also additional language proposed pertaining to test flights. AMFA proposes that no employee would be required to participate in a test flight , and all test flight duty would be at double time. Sincerely, Ken Wagers
