AMFA-SWA Negotiating Committee and Observers in Caucus
For the first time in AMFA's history at Southwest Airlines, both the Union and the Company mutually agreed to move contract negotiations outside of the state of Texas. Session 18 of the Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) and Related negotiations was held in Phoenix, AZ to allow our Local 32 members and observers from other locals the opportunity to physically see their union at work in negotiations.
AMFA is unique among unions in allowing member observers to attend this important process. Permitting the members to witness negotiations firsthand is concrete evidence of transparency, which is an important part of AMFA’s philosophy. AMFA would like to thank Southwest Airlines for agreeing to move negotiations, and we look forward to scheduling future sessions at other locations with large membership bases. Also, we would like to thank the observers who sacrificed some of their valuable time to witness this historic event.
Be sure to read the Negotiating Committee Updates, both written and video, and check with your local for upcoming negotiation dates and locations.
